Want to treat your date royally? The Medieval Times themed show and four-course feast in Lyndhurst Castle—a mock 11th-century fortress on the edge of the Meadowlands—is an entertaining night out for couples willing to let their imaginations run a bit wild. Best of all, you get to eat with your hands.
Arrive early—seating is first-come, first-served. There’s plenty to do while you wait. You can visit the gift shops or have a photo taken in period costumes. A bar offers adult beverages as well as non-alcoholic slushies.
Once you are seated, a “serf” provides the bill of fare: garlic bread, tomato bisque, oven-roasted chicken, spare ribs, herb-basted potato, pastry and select beverages. In lieu of silverware, you get wet wipes.
The show includes a jousting tournament on Spanish Andalusian stallions, a live falcon demonstration and a storyline involving warring kingdoms and romantic partings. Tickets are $59.95 each (plus tax and processing fees). Various upgrade options provide VIP seating, a DVD, a framed group photo—even a slice of cake with the Celebration Package ($16 extra per person).
